Well Serge,
Seeing as your enjoying your Rigid Bandsaw so much, I decided to copycat you and get one of my own, this one is $499 before taxes, and I gotta go in and sort out the riser for the resaw function, but I got them to hold one and Im going to pick it up tommorow.

Charlie you'll be happy with your new bandsaw. I have one just like it, and it does everything I need it to do. Sorry to hear about getting shot, I hope you had a full recovery.

Hey, I just got a bandsaw last weekend. The craze must have hit. But I got a Sjoberg bench, and one of those Rigid oscillating edge/spindle sanders at the same time...

So, as for finances and kidney...

I have a good kindey, two of em actually (but I need one), and no holes in mine!

Just thought the forum could use some good capitalistic competition on the kidneys.

WTG!! You're going to love having a decent bandsaw. My tablesaw sits idle a lot more than it used to.

Maybe you could consider your kidney as having "character" sort of like zoot (?)

Sounds like your on the way to a well set up shop. Now, if were going to be talking body part exchange, I got a couple of appendages that don't seem to get as much use as they did before she found out I been spending all my mo on wood and tools. Anyone want to trade for a nice set of braz?

OK, I bought one as well. I will NOT be doing resaw work (I have other options for resawing if it ever gets down to that) so I bought the new 14" Craftsman Professional series. Lots of people hate Craftsman, but the reviews I found were good on it, a buddy of mine checked it out thoroughly for me...and one of the woodworking forums has a thread where they say it's made by the company that makes all Grizzly products (a bonus in my eyes.) Plus it was the best deal going.

We will see.

Thanks - cant wait to rip in - really have to find a cheap table saw and drillpress now that I went new on the bandsaw tho, but I thought better get one that I can accesorize rather than an old outdated one.

As far as the kidney goes, the bullet went clean through the middle of it - it looked like a doughnut when the doctor showed me a picture of it,
   I had black wee wee for a long while after that, but the hole just closed up and the kidney totally healed in a week or so - the doctor was dumbfounded! Appearantly he'd never seen a kidney heal so fast, or repair a hole almost a cm large in such a short time.charliewood38848.8562037037

Everyone's got their opinions on table saws, but I'll share mine anyway! I
have a Ryobi BT3100 and am firmly convinced it's the best value in a sub-
$1000 table saw. In particular for guitar-size work (as opposed to large
furniture or cabinet work), it's up to the task, is very accurate and easy to
use, and has a very nice feature in its sliding miter table. About $250 at
Home Depot!

Also, w/r/t the drill press, if you can't find one used, I have a small (9 or
10 inch) Ryobi drill press and have been very happy with it. Picked it up
for $99. The rack and pinion table adjustment is very handy, and only
once have I run into a problem with the swing (distance from the center
of the quill to the column). Again, a very capable and affordable machine
for smaller work like guitars.

About 2/3 of the way through building my first guitar, my table saw died, and I couldn't afford to get a new tablesaw or even a new motor. There were a couple of times I had to use my bandsaw to do jobs better suited for a tablesaw, but I finished without a tablesaw.

Now, I just know someone out there will say they can make a guitar with a forklift pallet and a Swiss Army knife, but I can't imagine trying to build a guitar without a bandsaw. It was the most frequently used tool in the arsenal!

Congrats buddy Charlie, you won't regret it a minute, if you haven't tried it already(which i suspect you tried on furniture ), you'll notice that this bandsaw is very quiet, very low decibels! One great investment pal!

Now, if ya wanna hava breakfasta tomarrow morrrrninga, betta leava you bandsaw outa da kitchena tonighta ok!

... If you can find one. They're phasing these out and they're getting harder to find, my local Home Depot doesn't have them anymore. Buy one if you can find it. I love mine.
